Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is an anxiety disorder that makes kids unable to listen to reason as they do everything they can to make themselves feel better when they feel worried or anxious about something. The things they do are called compulsions, and children with OCD usually use a variety of meltdowns, threats, and even aggression to get everyone else in the house to do compulsions too. Parents often fall into this trap because they just want to make their child feel better – no matter how ridiculous your child’s demands seem to be. With a combination of psychoeducation and Exposure and Response Prevention exercises, we can help your child and the rest of your family stop listening to the OCD dictator, and in return gain the freedom to do the things you and your child want to be able to do.
